Brief gunfight in Machil Kupwara amid heavy snowfall

Srinagar, Nov 23 (GNS): Army and BSF were engaged in a brief gunfight after some suspicious movement was observed in Machil sector along Line of Control in Kupwara district, officials said on Monday.*_

_*They told GNS that the joint forces fired several round last night after observing the suspicious movement.*_

_*“BSF observed some movement on the intervening night of 22 and 23 November. The soldiers fired on the suspicious movement and there was late retaliation,” Deputy Inspector General of BSF R Muthu Krishnan told GNS. However, he said, due to heavy snowfall, the searches could not be carried. “It will be resumed as soon.”*_

_*On November 8, four soldiers including an army officer and a BSF trooper were killed along with three militants in the same sector, the sources said. (GNS)

Kashmiri soldier dies in Leh, family appeals to LG to get the body airlifted

Budgam, Feb 25, 22: A Budgam family Friday appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to airlift the body of the soldier from Leh to Srinagar.     An army soldier Bashir Ahmad Ganaie son of Late Ghulam Hassan Ganaie from Wahabpora Ganie Mohalla of Budgam district succumbed in the Leh hospital on Friday morning after suffering from a brain hemorrhage attack a few days back.     Dr Javaid Ahmed, the cousin of the soldier told news agency Kashmir News Trust that Bashir Ahmed died today in the hospital and now they earnestly appeal to the authorities particularly to LG Manoj Singh to get his body airlifted from Leh to Srinagar. GANDERBAL:-  Today on 10.02.2022, Ganderbal Police busted a gang of stolen vehicle sellers and recovered 05 Stolen vehicles, which were stolen from various parts of the country. The whole gang was arrested and stolen vehicles were also recovered from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Post Shadipora.     To give impetus in the ongoing investigation in the vehicle theft case registered at Police Station Ganderbal vide FIR No. 231/2021 under relevant sections of law, SSP Ganderbal, Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS constituted a special team headed by DO Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs.
