Phase I polling for DDC, Panchayat By-Elections conclude smoothly in Gund Kangan

Polling of 48.62 % for DDC, 71.04 % for Sarpanch, 68.82 % for Panch seats recorded

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 28: The Phase-I polling for DDC and Panchayat By-Elections concluded smoothly in Gund A and B constituencies which began amid tight security arrangements from 7 am and concluded at 2 PM. 
48.62 %, 71.04 % and 68.82 % polling was recorded in Phase-I for DDC, Sarpanch and Panch seats respectively.

    Foolproof security arrangements had been put in place for smooth voting and adequate arrangements were also put in place to ensure that social distancing norms are in place in the times of pandemic.

   The District Panchayat Election Officer Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba visited various polling stations where he interacted with agents of political parties/individual candidates and voters and enquired about the arrangements put in place for conducting smooth, free and fair elections in the district.

93 candidates are in fray for Phase-I of DDC and Panchayat By-Elections of vacant Sarpanch and Panch seats which include 10 for DDC, 21 for Sarpanch and 62 for Panch seats for which 127 polling stations were established with sufficient strength of polling staff.
